After Cole I went to SWTSU in San Marcos. I graduated from UNTHSC in San Antonio with a BS in Nursing. I was married in 1975 to John Fling - we met at SWT. He had just finished his first year of med school. I started nursing school that fall. We lived one block from the Health Science Center. He was also in the Air Force and on graduating from the med school was stationed at Travis AFB between San Fransisco and Sacremento, CA. We were there 3 years while he did his residency in Pediatrics. Our son Drew was born there in 1979. We moved to Merced, CA (Castle AFB) for one year. John was then sent to Bitburg AFB in Germany. We had a wonderful 3 years traveling in Europe. Our daughter, Becky, was born there in 1983. We returned to San Antonio for 2 years. John did a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology. We were then stationed in Fort Worth at Carswell AFB. We have been here since 1987. John retired a little over 10 years ago. He is an associate professor at the Osteopathic Med School here. He has a clinic in the school's professional building and sees allergy patients and, if they are overloaded, sees some pediatric patients. The med students pass thru his clinic to learn about allergy and he teaches classes in allergy, pediatrics, and some immunology. Our kids graduated from high school here.
